REVIEW // Chanel Summer 2015 “COLLECTION MÉDITERRANÉE” & Les Beiges Collection

Hello hello!

I’ve been slacking here on my blog but when I do come back, I’m bringing you some pretty-ness for your viewing pleasure. And by that, I mean some makeup porn is coming!

WARNING !!

LONG POST AHEAD

!!!!!!

Getting on to the review, it’s going to be all Chanel. They just recently launched their new summer 2015 collection named, COLLECTION MÉDITERRANÉE. I reckon it’s summer in some parts of the world, hence coming out with the summer collection, but here in South East Asia, especially in Malaysia, it’s always been summer all year long, well with the exception of seasonal pours. Launched together with the summer 2015 collection is the new Les Beiges collection. I’ve been very lucky to be able to snag one ‘First Class boarding pass’ to hop on to ‘Chanel Airlines’ to check out their new launches. It’s just their marketing strategy btw, but heck yes, it definitely sounds oh-so-fancy.

First up is Chanel’s Summer 2015 ‘COLLECTION MÉDITERRANÉE’. In the collection, Chanel came up with 5 new (LE) shades of their Stylo Eyeshadows, one pretty purple shade for their stylo yeux waterproof, 4 shades of their Le Vernis(s) (nail polish), 2 of their lip glosses, 4 shades of their Rouge Coco Shines and the most pretty one, that illuminating bronzer called ‘LUMIÈRE D’ÉTÉ’. I’m actually surprised that the bronzer came to Malaysia because Guerlain doesn’t launch their bronzer collection to Malaysia (Terracotta line).

Next on the agenda, is the 2015 Les Beiges Collection. Within this set, Chanel released 2 new healthy glow multi-colored powder, same idea like last year’s multi-colored powder just different pattern, also released in this collection is the new les beiges healthy glow powder in no. 25, an in-between shade 20 and 30. But the most awaited one is the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick, basically a cream blush stick. It has 3 different colours, 2 of them (no. 21 & 22) are permanent while 1 of them being limited edition (no. 20).

Well, in the Chanel event few days ago, I grabbed a few (yeah, maybe more than a few) from both collection. Along with that purchase, I got a number of gifts from Chanel. Which includes, a bundle of notepads, a Chanel Chance vial perfume, a mini les beiges no. 10 powder, a sample tube of Les Beiges BB cream in no. 20 and a pretty Chanel makeup pouch (not in the picture).

From the Summer 2015 ‘COLLECTION MÉDITERRANÉE’,

1. Lumière D’ Été Illuminating Powder (RM 225) – Limited Edition

Aside from the stunning embossing work, this ‘illuminating powder’ in my opinion works best as a bronzer, unless you have deeper skin tone then maybe this would work as highlighter for you. This powder leans on the warmer side of the spectrum. It has a slight sheen to it without looking too shiny, so it really looks like you have a sun-kissed kinda glow on your skin. The glow might not be captured in this picture but in real life it is gorgeous!

The texture of the powder is very creamy. When I swatched it (under my Vitalumiere Aqua B30), the embossing doesn’t easily rub off, unless you rub it vigorously, then it’ll be a different story. It doesn’t have any sort of fragrance like other Chanel makeup products, well at least to my nose it doesn’t. But weird thing is that it’s kind of has that ‘new car smell’, if you know what i mean. But don’t cha worry, you won’t smell it once you apply it on your face.

The powder comes with a suede pouch (typical Chanel powder packaging) and an angled mini brush. The brush is actually not bad at all. May be useful for travelling.

2. Stylo Eyeshadow in 127 Laurier Rose (RM 118) – Limited Edition

The moment I saw it on the display, I knew I needed to get this. It’s that rose gold shade that everyone goes crazy about. I only have cream shadow sticks from NYX, which by the way, has totally different formula than this Chanel one (DUH.) So I swatched it on the counter and immediately fell in love with the texture and the pretty color.

It’s a true rose gold with specks of silver glitter. The eyeshadow stick glides on smoothly when I swatched it on my hand. I reckon it’ll be a great pick-me-up for lazy days, coz you only need to swipe it on your lids, blend it with your finger and go!

1. Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour – Marinière No. 01 (RM 170) – Limited Edition

This year’s version of the healthy glow series features the infamous stripes pattern, similar to last year’s Healthy Glow Multi-Colour, the only difference is that the Marinière version is narrower and features more strips than the predecessor.

The lighter shade, No. 01, bears light pink shade paired with les beiges powder no. 10. When swatched heavily like the picture below, it appears on my nc25/30 skin to be a rosy mauve shade.

The Chanel BA told me that this powder is suitable for touch ups as it gives the skin a more healthy glow effect, as the name suggests. However, you can use this as blush by packing the color on your cheeks.

The texture of the powder is quite creamy and the powder itself (the pink shade) has a shimmer to it if you look at the pattern up close. But the shimmer doesn’t show as much when applied on to the skin.

Note that the powder does have that signature Les Beiges floral smell to it. But it doesn’t linger when applied.

The powder comes with a suede pouch and a half-moon shaped brush that’s actually can be used.

2. Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour – Marinière No. 02 (RM 170) – Limited Edition

The darker version of the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour powder features stripes of les beiges powder shade no. 30 and 40.

This shade looks more suitable as a bronzer for people with fair to light skin tones, while it may serves as a setting powder to people with more tanner skin. And also, when swatched, the color looks very similar to the Lumière D’ Été Illuminating Powder.

3. Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick – Blush No. 21 (RM 145) – Permanent

Let’s get one thing out of the way, I ACCIDENTALLY CHIP IT (damn nails.) WHEN I WANTED TO TAKE A PICTURE OF IT.

Okay. Weeping time over.

Ever since I used Colourpop super shock cheek blushes, I’m converted. Just because it’s easier and faster by using cream products, especially when you’re in a rush. This cream blush stick blends wonderfully into the skin. You only need to take your short stippling brush, stipple it and blend it into your cheeks to get that beautiful flushed look. This particular shade is suitable for everyday fresh face look as it looks the most natural out of the 3 shades Chanel came out with.

The pigmentation of the blush is just nice, not too opaque nor it is too sheer, which is good in my opinion, so that you can build up the intensity of the color slowly while blending it as you go to get the color intensity you wanted.

The stick blush also bears the signature Chanel Les Beiges fragrance, so people who are sensitive to fragrances, note that.

Shade no. 21 & 22 is permanent, while No. 20 is Limited Edition

  2. I hope to find a budget dupe for the Stylo Eyeshadow in 127 Laurier Rose (RM 118). The price is too high for me. 😦 If you knows any, let me know 🙂
